Quinta Atlantis is a beautiful centennial house built by a well-known prosperous family of the Lomba do Botão, who returned from Brazil in 1907. This house was known by the name of “Casa das Irmãs” (The Sisters’House). For many years the building has been used by a religious congregation as the first Kindergarden and primary school of the of Lomba do Botão. Many of its inhabitants have nostalgic memories of this house for having taken their first steps in school life. Restored with taste and care, this house will welcome you with friendliness. You will discover this beautiful area of São Miguel, Povoação, its rural life, a lesser known part of the island, but no less beautiful, the Terras do Priolo, recently honoured with the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism. Comfortably equipped, Quinta Atlantis is a manor house with a typical and interesting architecture of São Miguel. Every effort has been made to preserve its traditional kitchen adding nevertheless a slightly modern touch.

At Quinta Atlantis you may enjoy beautiful views of the valley and the sea in the background as well as a relaxing, calm and familiar environment. You have access to the orchard, organic garden and a nice terrace. The Quinta has domestic animals, dogs and cats, poultry, goats, and a mascot, Xico, a gentle donkey, aged 3. On the first floor, between rooms Alma Açoreana and Aurora Borealis, you find a nice rest and reading room. In the basement, the house has a large and comfortable living space with games, books, DVDs and a little school offering children activities to preserve the house’s tradition. Quinta Atlantis also offers in collaboration with reliable partners services like hiking, riding, fishing, swimming with dolphins, whale watching and other fun activities for children. Depending on the season and availability, we also organize workshops and evening meals (Cozido das Furnas). Quinta Atlantis awaits you.
